Barrier-Free University Awards at Yaşar University Again

Yaşar University added new ones to the Higher Education Council (YÖK) Barrier-Free University Flag Awards, which it won for the first time in 2018.

On June 5, 2023, YÖK President Erol Özvar announced the universities that were deemed worthy of the “Accessible University Awards” given since 2018. According to this statement, our university was found worthy of the Accessibility in Space Award (Orange Flag) for the Faculty Building Y Block and Faculty Building T Block.

In the statement, it was highlighed that the number of students in Turkish higher education approached 7 million, while the number of students with different disability levels was around 56 thousand. According to the data, approximately one third of the students with disabilities are women. “Female students with disabilities face more disadvantages than male students and may experience problems in accessing the university”, said Önvar.
