1. Who can apply to the YU Unit for Students with disabilities?
Any student who has a disability and who needs any support (physical, academic, social) within the scope of their education in our university can apply to our unit. Some of the possible types of disabilities that you may encounter are:
- Visual impairment
- Hearing disability
- Physical disabilities
- Speech and language disturbances
- Attention deficit and hyperactivity
- Learning difficulties
- Autism spectrum disorder / Asperger’s syndrome
- Chronic diseases (diabetes, epilepsy, heart problems, renal impairment, etc.)
- Temporary insufficiencies
- Others
2. Do I need to get a disability report?
Yes. In accordance with the legal regulations, the applicants are required to submit a valid health and disability report indicating their disability status to our unit with their applications.
3. How is the information of students who apply or receive kept private?
Personal information of any student requesting or receiving support from our department within the framework of confidentiality rules shall not be shared with any public-private institution or organization or people other than Yaşar University Rectorate and Unit for Students with Disability.
4. I enrolled as a student with a disability. What should I do first?
Students with disabilities can contact our unit directly after settling in an academic program at our university. For this purpose, the unit is open during the registration period, can visit our stand or consult the Registrar’s Office during the registration process. 5. How does the support process work in the YU Unit for Students with Disability?
In order for the students to apply the necessary arrangements and reasonable adaptations to their needs during the education and training of the students, Students with Disability Information Form must be completed. All processes and stages are explained in detail, in the Student Roadmap.
6. I want to visit the YU Unit for Students with Disability, how can I reach it?
Our unit office is located within the Health Culture Sports Directorate: Y Building, Floor -1, Office: B-1.09.

7. In what matters does the YU Unit for Students with Disability provide support?
Yaşar University provides support to students with disabilities within the framework of their needs in education, training, administrative, physical, accommodation, social and similar fields. To organize the curricula of our students in a way that will not obstruct their academic, physical and social lives; harmonize the educational environment; to provide the necessary tools, materials and course materials are the supports provided to properly arrange education, research and accommodation.
8. What are the Procedures and Principles of Yaşar University Students with Disability Education and Examination Application?
The purpose of these procedures and principles is to ensure the equality of opportunity in education and to contribute positively to the achievements of the students with disabilities by eliminating the problems faced by the students with disabilities in the course and exam applications due to their obstacles. 9. What adaptations are made by the YU Unit for Students with Disability?
Different adaptations can be made according to the obstacles and needs of our students. In the course practices; to help and prepare lecture notes and reading list in electronic environment, using recording device in lectures, taking notes etc. Giving a written summary of any visual material used to create the appropriate class seating plan, examination of applications; to provide accessibility of exam rooms, to provide attendants or readers, to allow the use of computers, giving additional time and rest breaks can be listed as examples.

10. Are students with disabilities exempted from the courses?
If students with disabilities apply to the academic unit with the request of exemption from the course due to their disability, they will be given an equivalent course if the course is elective by the decision of the University Administrative Board. If the course is not equivalent, or if the course is compulsory, firstly, the course will be given with the help of developing techniques and programs; otherwise, another course in the curriculum is given to students with disabilities.
11. How can I access the university campus as an individual with disability? Can I get support from the university for access to the campus?
You can easily access the campus by using Izmir Metro. The Regional Metro Stop is located directly opposite the main entrance of the campus (see: Izmir Rail Systems Network Map ).The metro exit can be reached directly from the main gate of the university using the overpass and elevator.
12. Are university dormitories accessible for students with disabilities?
There is an accessible room for students with disabilities in Yaşar University Girls and Boys Dormitory. The dormitory entrance and the interiors are also designed for students with disabilities.
13. I’m a student with disability. Can I benefit from Erasmus exchange program?
Students with disabilities can benefit from Erasmus programs equally. The campaigns carried out by the National Agency aim to increase the participation of people with disabilities in Erasmus programs. Under the Erasmus+ Program, special financial support is provided for students with disability who wish to participate in training or internship abroad, such as additional grants or accompanying support.

14. Does the Unit for Students with Disability assist in the provision of appropriate internship for students with disability?
Yes, our unit supports our students with disabilities in the field of internship.
15. Does the university’s Career and Alumni Center inform the students with disabilities?
Yes, YU Career and Alumni Center has one-to-one meetings with students with disability; they provide them with the necessary guidance and information.
QUOTAS & SCHOLARSHIPS:
16. Are there any special scholarship opportunities for students with disabilities other than ***ÖSYM (Assessment Selection and Placement Center)?
There are no special scholarship opportunities for students with disabilities except the ÖSYM scholarships.
17. What are the health conditions to be sought in exam applications for disabled individuals and in the disabled quota?
For the relevant regulation for the principles determining the health conditions of the candidates and students who will benefit from the exam applications for the disabled individuals and the disabled quota in the central exams made by ÖSYM, special talent exams made by higher education institutions and exams for passing courses in higher education programs.

18. Is “additional points” given to disabled student candidates who want to study at university ?
“The selection and placement procedures of candidates who cannot benefit from education and training services adequately due to severe and permanent loss of function or impairment in their physical characteristics (for example, complete or significant deficiency in vision or hearing power despite all corrections), shall be carried out by a method determined by the OSYM Executive Board. Apology will be made taking into account the type, scores and preferences . Candidates in this situation will add a medical board report from a university or state hospital and a petition detailing their resume regarding their disability to their Application Documents. Reports to be sent after the application process is completed will not be processed. The degrees of disability stated in these reports will be examined by the committees appointed by ÖSYM, and whether the candidates will be subjected to a separate selection and placement process due to their disability will be determined according to the results of these examinations . Candidates whose reports are accepted will take the exam in separate halls and if necessary, they will be given an assistant. If these candidates prefer with OSS Exam Entry and Identity Document, “Disabled Hall” will be written on the YDS Exam Entry and Identity Document. Candidates whose reports are not accepted by the authorized boards of ÖSYM will be treated like other candidates applying to ÖSS. Candidates who cannot see will be able to bring special calculators for the blind that they can use for the exam.”

19. Is there a separate quota at ÖSYS for students with disabilities who want to study at university?
At the Higher Education General Assembly Meeting held on February 8, 2018 Programs that admit students only with a special talent exam (Faculties of Fine Arts, Conservatory, Design, etc.) If deemed appropriate by the Council of Higher Education, the quota of the programs published in the ÖSYS Guide of the relevant year is:
- 10% of it is reserved for students with disabilities (For example, 3 out of 30 seats are reserved for students with disabilities, and 27 are reserved for other candidates),
- In case of an application for programs with a quota of less than 10, 1 quota for students with disabilities can be allocated in addition to the quota published in the guide,
- Candidates who pass the special talent exam but cannot be placed in the quota reserved for disabled students are determined as substitute students for the disabled quota,
- If the quota for students with disabilities applying to the relevant program is more than the quota allocated, the candidates who passed the special talent exam but could not get into the allocated quota will be evaluated by including the ÖSYS score together with the other students participating in the evaluation,
- If the quota reserved for the disabled in the relevant program is not filled, it has been decided that this quota can be added to the quota reserved for other students.

20. Is there a separate quota for students with disabilities who want to do Master’s and Doctorate?
“Graduate programs are carried out in accordance with the Postgraduate Education and Training Regulations, and there is no provision for students with disabilities.”

21. Are there any privileges applied to students with disabilities regarding lateral transfer and special student status?
“ There is no separate provision applied for students with disabilities, horizontal transfers between higher education institutions in our dormitory and special student applications, Official Official No. 27561, dated 24/04/2010. Transition between Associate Degree and Undergraduate Degree Programs in Higher Education Institutions, which came into force after being published in the Gazette , is made in accordance with the provisions of the Regulation on the Principles of Credit Transfer between Double Major , Minor and Inter -Institutional Programs. You must apply to the relevant higher education institution regarding the subject.”

İŞKUR & EMPLOYMENT:
22. On which days and in which service centers are the individuals with disability – employer interviews held?
Individuals with disability-employer collective meetings take place every Monday Bornova Service Center, every Tuesday Çiğli Service Center, every Wednesday Karabağlar Service Center, every Thursday Torbalı Service Center, and every Friday at 10:00 pm and 14:00 at the Konak Service Center.
23. Do you have a new application for the employment of persons with disabilities (incentives / legislation, etc.)?
The employer has been encouraged by the Social Security Institution. The employer’s share which is paid by the employer is covered by the general public.
24. How can students with disability and graduates register to İŞKUR Employment Bureau for individuals with disability and what is the contact information of your Employment Office for individuals with disability?
The service centers do not have employment bureaus individuals with disability. Since only the Bornova Service Center has moved to “the Qualified Consultancy Model”, six business and vocational counselors are involved.
25. How can students with disability and alumni reach your internship and job vacancies? Is there a link for the announcements?
Personnel recruitment of individuals with disability is discussed in institutions in collective meetings. Individuals can follow the collective meeting announcements at www.iskur.gov.tr .The list of companies that have passed a collective meeting and which do not close the personnel with disability gap is required to be interviewed by the Institution due to being kept manual by the Individuals with Disability Job and Vocational Counselors.
As there is a statutory requirement for the closure of the personnel with disability gap, no process is carried out for internship.

*ÖSYM: In Turkish education system, ÖSYM (Assessment Selection and Placement Center) prepares and conducts the examinations related to the recruitment of students to higher education institutions and makes their installations as a result.
**İŞKUR: İŞKUR (Turkish Employment Agency) is an institution for both individuals to find jobs and for companies to find need new employees.
